ACTING CENTRE MANAGER

Dom has worked in outdoor education since he was 16. Dom’s core values centre around developing each and every person and encouraging everyone to reach their potential. As acting head of centre, Dom has an expert knowledge of all areas of our operation and would be happy to answer any queries you may have about the centre. In his spare time he races a beautiful, old, wooden sailing boat.

Scott

SENIOR INSTRUCTOR

SENIOR INSTRUCTOR

Scott has been working in outdoor education for the past 27 years. During that time he has worked in several outdoor education centres.  Scott is a specialist in paddle sports and is an active kayaker, having paddled throughout the UK and Europe. He also has a keen interest in mountain biking. Over this period of time Scott has built up an extensive range of national governing body awards.

Pete

SENIOR INSTRUCTOR

Senior Instructor

Throughout Pete’s 29 years of working in the outdoor environment his experience has included positions such as Centre Principal (Essex), Corporate Events Manager (Lake District) and School Outdoor Tutor (New Zealand). Having been a RYA Inspector over the last 15 years, one of Pete’s roles is to visit other outdoor education centres and clubs, ensuring they are meeting the Royal Yachting Association requirements. Pete’s pastimes include sailing, where he races competitively. He also has a passion for rugby, and has  played for a number of different clubs. Pete has now been working for Fairplay House for over 20 years.

Jane

INSTRUCTOR/TUTOR

Jane is the newest member of our team and brings with her a wealth of experience from her years volunteering with Cubs, Scouts and Sea Scouts and as a sailing instructor for the Dabchicks Sailing Club on the Essex Coast. Jane’s previous role as a teacher of Art and Design is helping the centre broaden its work and approach to Outdoor Education. Jane is passionate about the Arts, History and the ‘Great Outdoors’. On her days off she likes to swim and race her sailing boat

Demi

Demi has been working at Fairplay for just under two years now. Previously she has worked as a carer for the elderly, a support worker for those with special needs and a youth worker for children and young people in foster care and regards herself as a big people person. Demi is an also an animal lover and enjoys spending time with her friends.

Tracey

BUSINESS MANAGER

BUSINESS AND ADMINISTRATION MANAGER

Tracey has been at Fairplay House for a year now.  Before this, she worked at a local Academy for 15 years.  Tracey thoroughly enjoys working at the centre but especially speaking with the children and hearing what activities they have participated in during the day.

Tracey has a large family and particularly enjoys spending time with her five grandchildren.

Kevin

SITE MANAGER

SITE MANAGER

Before Kevin worked at Fairplay, he worked as an apprentice carpenter. He then went on to complete a course in bricklaying at Redbridge College and has completed a plumbing course!  He was a general builder for 20 years in social housing in Newham.  Kevin has now been working at Fairplay for 19 years. Kevin is a great problem solver and says there is nothing he would not be able to fix.  Kevin’s favourite part of the job is when he is able to go out on activities with the children, as it’s a welcome change of scenery.

Elaine

Elaine has been at Fairplay House for the past 25 years and looks after a great team in the kitchen. She prides herself on using local produce where possible to provide nutritious meals for all of our guests.

Elaine’s favourite part of her role is cooking great meals and catching up with the teachers that come back year after year. 

Elaine also enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and bird watching.

Lyn

Lyn has been working at Fairplay House for the past four years.  Lyn enjoys cooking delicious and nutritious meals for all of our guests. Her favourite part of the job is chatting with the children and hearing about their day.

Lyn is a busy grandmother to her seven grandchildren but also loves making time for her pet tortoise.

Debbie has been at Fairplay for the past three years. She sets high standards in the presentation of all the accommodation.  One of Debbie’s favourite parts of the job is preparing the rooms ready for the next group and seeing the excited children arriving and taking in their surroundings.  

In her free time, Debbie’s passion is baking; she bakes the most amazing cakes.  Debbie has two dogs, two ferrets and 20 chickens!

JOSIE

Josie started her career window dressing at Kray Fashion stores throughout the UK. However, she has now been at Fairplay House for 19 years and over this time has become an integral part of the Fairplay Team.  One of Josie’s favourite parts of the job is when the children first arrive.  Josie enjoys hearing how excited they are. 

In her spare time, she is kept busy with her five grandsons, five dogs and many chickens. 

Josie is married to Kevin, our Site Manager.

Claire has been working at Fairplay House for 25 years, during that time she has been an important part of the domestic team at Fairplay House and the Barge.  Claire enjoys baking and says she makes the best Victoria sponge cake.  Her favourite part of the job is chatting to the children and finding out about their adventures.

Connor

Connor works on the domestic team and instructional team.

Connor has been here for just under two years and has a lot of experience in many different areas. Connor previously worked in a school as a Learning Support Assistant and has worked as a sports development coach in local primary schools.  He has also worked for two other outdoor companies. During that time, he developed many skills whilst working with children and has also gained a vast knowledge of outdoors education.  Connor’s passion is cycling.
