Reviews:
We have been using Fairplay House for study weekends over the past couple of years. The centre has been exactly what we have been looking for in terms of being a safe space for students to learn away from school and home but also provides an opportunity for them to develop confidence building and communication skills through the outdoor activity.
Students would have a series of Maths sessions ranging in length from 30 to 90 minutes over a Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday which would focus on key GCSE content and addressing misconceptions. Students also took part in a longer session each morning and afternoon –great for teaching exam technique and practise, often in the form of an exam walk through!
Our revision weekends at Fairplay house had significant benefit for students in terms of building their confidence mathematically and we saw that impact in their subsequent Maths mock exams and summer exams. For both teachers and students, having that dedicated time to really delve into the curriculum was invaluable – we calculated that over the weekend students received the amount of time teaching equivalent to an extra six weeks of Maths lessons in school!
