FAQ
On arrival at Fairplay House, your Lead Instructor will provide an induction, which will outline safety information and what to do in the event of a fire or other emergency. Your Lead Instructor will also outline the control measures which are in place at Fairplay House to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Are your instructors qualified? And have an up-to-date DBS Check (Disclosure and Barring Service)?
Yes, all instructors have been trained, assessed and meet the requirement set out by
National Governing Bodies which include (The Adventure Activities Licensing
Authority) who inspect us. All our instructors are fully qualified to lead all of the activities at Fairplay House and they all have many years of experience working with children and adults of all ages and ability.
Yes all members of staff including domestic and office staff have an up-to-date DBS check. Any visitors who come on site must go through to the office and sign in and wear a visitors’ badge.
Is there wheelchair access?
Yes, Fairplay Outdoor Education Centre is accessible for wheelchair users. Toilets are situated on the ground floor. The outside area is mostly grass and gravel
Will my child be safe on activities?
Each activity has a risk assessment that all staff must read and adhere to. All activities are regularly checked by staff and outside companies. Your child’s safety is our number one priority
Can I contact my child while they are away?
We believe that it is unnecessary for children to bring mobile phones or other technology on their trip.
Unless it’s an emergency we would prefer that you do not contact your child during their stay as we will not be able to pass on messages or emails. If there is an emergency the best way to get through is by contacting the school and they can then contact the visiting staff who are here with your child.
Will my child need money?
Depending on the time of year and what activities have been chosen there may be an opportunity to buy ice cream.
We have a souvenir shop, which offers small gifts to remember their stay with us but double check with the school if you are not sure. It will be your child’s responsibility to look after their own money. Fairplay Outdoor Education Centre will not accept any responsibility for lost money.
