managing illness before and during your visit to fairplay oec

Prevention and Management

If you have symptoms of COVID before attending Fairplay OEC please refer to the most recent Government guidance and inform a staff member at your child’s school.

Anyone who has recently been ill, particularly with vomiting and/or diarrhoea, must be free from symptoms for 48 hours before coming to Fairplay OEC. Staff, young people and children should stay at home if they are unwell to avoid spreading infection to others.

If it is suspected that anyone in the family/group has or has had Norovirus/winter vomiting virus immediately prior to the visit to Fairplay OEC, it is essential that staff, young people and children should stay at home if they are unwell to avoid spreading infection to others.

If anyone has Measles, they must stay off nursery, school or work for at least 4 days from when the rash first appears and should not attend a visit to Fairplay OEC during that time. They should also try to avoid close contact with babies and anyone who is pregnant or has a weakened immune system.

If it is suspected that anyone in the family/group has or has had bed bugs immediately prior to the visit to Fairplay OEC, it is essential that staff, young people and children should stay at home to avoid spreading this to others.

If anyone becomes ill whilst at Fairplay OEC, this must be reported to the Head of Centre. A decision will need to be made as to whether the person can be looked after at the Centre or needs to be taken home as soon as possible in order to prevent the spread of any possible infection to the rest of the group.
